Uppercuts
Uppercuts, a new beauty salon and barbershop on El Cajon Boulevard offers a range of services, including haircuts, shaves and hair coloring. As an added bonus, a hot towel and relaxing neck massage is included.
Peter, the owner of Uppercuts, previously owned a Jamaican Restaurant in San Diego. He felt the location didn't suit his business well. So, in seeking out a new business venture, Peter realized that location was key and they couldn't go wrong with a barbershop. As he says, "everyone needs a hair cut and everyone wants to look good." With a lot of drive-by traffic and pedestrian activity, El Cajon Boulevard was a perfect fit.
Months before opening, the space was fully renovated. The metal bars were removed from the windows and Peter added hardwood flooring, custom styling stations, a fresh paint job and even two flat screen televisions. The shop looks spotless, but the most important thing to him is to treat the costumers with special care.
This is a diverse barbershop that caters to the community. With haircuts starting at $16 and $10 for children, the goal is to meet the needs of the community and make sure everyone feels welcome. All of their barbers and stylists have over 15 years experience and continue to build upon their professional training by attending workshops and hair shows. The name Uppercuts comes from Peter's favorite barbershop in his homeland of Jamaica. He always appreciated their shampoo, neck massage and most of all, the friendly service. One customer would fly down from Florida once a month just for a haircut. Peter's goal is to reach similar customer satisfaction with Uppercuts.
