World Foods Market - Viet Dong Market V
A wonderful place to shop for fresh produce and to be inspired with ideas for something special and different for dinner, World Foods Market is worth multiple visits.
The storefront has been attractively remodeled with two giant elephant statues, plants and an Asian color scheme. The store is very large, which enables the display of a staggering variety of food items, in large part Vietnamese and other Asian imports, but there are also selections from Mexico and other countries from around the globe.
What really makes this store shine is the amazing meat and fish counter. The built-in fish tanks are filled with everything from live oysters, to lobsters, to swimming tilapia.
The aisles are colorful and filled with an assortment of products that will have you looking up recipes for ingredients you have never seen before. All the produce is fresh and sold at very reasonable prices. Cooking implements such as rice steamers, marble mortar and pestles, and porcelain dishes and cups are available to both cook and present your dinner in an Asian style. A complete tea set with teapot and six cups is less than $15. A one-pound tin of loose leaf Jasmine Green Tea is only $3.99 (North Sea Brand).
World Foods carries a
varied selection of foods incorporating diverse ethnicities, and its merchandise
reflects the diversity of the neighborhood it's located in.
